Martvili canyon might not exist if the river Abash have not made the way in the limestone rock. Interesting to know how many days (centuries?) the river did its job? This is an unknown fatc.

The prices
You must pay some money to enter on the territory of thee canyon, the cost depends on the age of the visitor:
- For an adult one a ticket costs 17,50 GEL
- For children under the way of six the entrance is free
- For renting a boat you must pay 15 GEL for every person who will sit there
Swimming in the canyon and the trout
The mentioning of the trout does not mean that people come here to fish. No, just in the cafes on the territory off the canyon you can order the main dish – a trout. It will cost you 25-30 GEL per a fish (the price depends on the size of a fish).
About the swimming: not everyone dares to enter into the water. It is not just cold. It so COLD that you get legs cramp. Do not be afraid it is not deep, the level of water is not higher than to your waist, you will not be drowned.
A useful piece of advice: Come into the water very carefully, it is not hard to slip on the stones.
A river of emerald color
As soon as it will be enough for you to swim in the waterfall, just come back to the village that is located in 10-15 minutes from the waterfall.
Make a stop near any living house. Pay the locals 2-3 GEL per a person. Turn left and make a descent on a path, it’s the only one, so you will not make a mistake. Next you will see some boulders. The mountain river also made here real mountains.
The water is of a clean emerald color, it seems that such a color cannot exist, but it is!
You may swim in the water, but be careful, you`d better do not jump right from the mountain till you find a descent path to the water.
The water temperature is the same as the waterfall, but it is much deeper here, that is why when you examine the bottom, you can easily jump.
Thermal springs
A trip to Martvili canyon is better to combine with the one to the thermal springs. It is located not far from Batumi. The way from Martvili canyon to Batumi will take you 40 minutes.
When you are close to the river where the springs come from the earth, you will feel sulfur smell.
When the thermal springs fall into a cold mountain river, you will feel that the water at some places is warmer. Of course, it is not as warm as in your bath, but it really warmer than the mountain river itself.
